ASPRS Remote Sensing Applications Division Update

As Director of the Remote Sensing Applications Division, I would like to take a few moments to update you regarding some of the things Assistant Director, Dr. Amr Abd-Elrahman, and I have been working on. We want to encourage you to get involved as well!

GEOWEEK will be held virtually during the spring of 2021, and we are actively soliciting special session ideas. So, if you have a topic you would like to organize that RSAD could help with, please reach out to Amr or me.
ASPRS is looking for a new lead editor for the Manual of Remote Sensing. Raechel Portelli is happy to help with this effort, and you can contact her, raechel@msu.edu, or Rae Kelley, rkelley@asprs.org for more details.
ASPRS is working with ProLearn to develop a new series of remote sensing courses, photogrammetry, and GIS. You can expect a request for course proposals in 2021.

Finally, we are looking for members interested in reinvigorating the division’s working groups on marine, academic engagement, emergency response, and climate change. The only group with a current chair is the Academic Engagement Working Group. Please, reach out to Amr Abd-Elrahman, aamr@ufl.edu.

Cheers,
Raechel Portelli, PhD
