Hello SCGIS,

I want to make you aware of the exciting recent formation of two new domestic chapters: San Francisco (led by Melanie Jones) and Northern Colorado (led by Will Horton).

The purpose of domestic chapters is to foster community among SCGIS members locally, share your work with others living in the region, network, and have fun in a both professional and social environment.  Establishing a chapter requires a dedicated leader (or group of leaders, as we have in the Washington DC chapter) who can recruit locally-based volunteers to present their work at meetings and work with the logistics required to set up each meeting (including finding an appropriate venue with projector, or a place to meet for happy hour).  Thank you to Melanie and Will for leading these two new chapters!

If you live in either the San Francisco, northern Colorado, or Washington DC area, and are interested in joining the chapters or learning more about the chapters, please visit the newly updated “US Chapters” webpage on the SCGIS website: http://www.scgis.org/Lev2Page.aspx?Page2ID=5

If you would like to discuss setting up your own regional domestic chapter within the United States, please contact me at: chapters@scgis.org

Thank you!
Janet Nackoney
