Dear ASPRS Members and Readers of Photogrammetric Engineering & Remote Sensing,
The Editorial Team of Photogrammetric Engineering & Remote Sensing continues to work hard to better meet the needs of our readers. There have been improvements in the journal by the reduction of publishing times, interesting applications papers, monthly highlight articles, timely special issues, and improvement in the electronic version. We are always open to further suggestions about how to improve the journal.
I am writing at this time to solicit your active involvement in the journal. Please consider submitting a paper to the journal. It can be a highlight article or an applications paper or a regular peer-reviewed paper. Our members are doing lots of interesting work and I encourage you to publish this work in our journal. In addition, we would like all of you to consider becoming the guest editor of a special issue. If there is a topic or theme that you think would make a great special issue we encourage you to submit a proposal. Special issues are an important component of PE&RS and we are happy to receive proposals for any ideas that you might have.
We are excited about continuing to meet the needs of all our members with a variety of information contained within PE&RS every month. Thanks to all of you who contribute articles, review articles, or serve in other ways to make our journal effective.
Russell G. Congalton
Editor-in-Chief, Photogrammetric Engineering & Remote Sensing
Soliciting Special Issues for PE&RS
The ASPRS journal Photogrammetric Engineering and Remote Sensing (PE&RS) is interested in receiving proposals for Special Issues.
Special Issues of PE&RS are published at most 2 times in any 12-month period. In such issues, all peer reviewed articles address a specific theme. The theme may be proposed by a prospective Guest Editor or may be suggested by others. It typically takes 12-14 months to bring a Special Issue of PE&RS to publication.
The Guest Editor is responsible for receiving the papers for the Special Issue, having them peer reviewed to determine acceptance for the issue, and determining which of the accepted papers should be included in the Special Issue.
Anyone wishing to propose a theme for a Special Issue, and/or who wishes to serve as Guest Editor for such Special Issues, must contact PE&RS Editor-in-Chief Dr. Russell Congalton for approval before proceeding. To facilitate consideration of such requests, a short written proposal should be prepared and emailed to Dr. Congalton at russ.congalton@unh.edu. This proposal must include your contact information, the specific subject of the Special Issue, a short justification of why this should be a Special Issue, and any other pertinent information.
For complete instructions regarding PE&RS Special Issues, please see the
Instructions for Guest Editors.
Soliciting Applications Papers
The Editorial Team of Photogrammetric Engineering and Remote Sensing (PE&RS), the journal of the American Society for Photogrammetry and Remote Sensing (ASPRS) is pleased to invite our readers to submit “Applications” papers. A peer-reviewed “Applications” paper appears as the last paper in the peer-reviewed section of the journal each month. The goal of this paper is to provide a focus for practical and applied research results to our readers. Many of our peer-reviewed papers already have a practical and/or applied focus while many also have a theoretical nature. “Applications” papers emphasize a specific application or practical aspect of our profession and are reviewed using slightly different criteria than the other peer-reviewed papers. The review of our other papers includes evaluating if the method or technique presented is new or innovative. “Applications” papers need not meet that requirement. However, “Applications” papers must be timely and relevant and can not simply be the presentation of a well-established technique or method.
Anyone wising to submit an “Applications” paper, may find the complete instructions for peer-reviewed papers online at Instructions for Authors.
