If you are interested in gaining skills at the intersection of earth and data science, consider the Earth Data Analytics – Foundations in Python professional graduate certificate from the University of Colorado, Boulder. This three-course, nine-credit program is aimed at working professionals and can be completed entirely online over ten months from August through June. The application for the Fall 2023 semester opens today, February 1st! The last day to apply is August 8th, 2023.
Program Overview
The certificate consists of three sequential courses, which provide the fundamental skills required to work in the growing field of earth data science, including using tools like Python programming and GitHub to work with varied earth data types and structures as well as effectively collaborate on data-intensive projects. Students apply the data science skills that they learn in the classroom to a final capstone project where they are paired with professional partners like Google, the World Wildlife Fund, and the USGS. Graduates will be prepared to launch or advance careers as data scientists, GIS/geospatial analysts, remote sensing scientists, or product managers, among others. Recent graduates, experienced earth science professionals, and those looking for a career change will find the skills taught in the certificate applicable.
All of the content taught in the first two certificate courses is freely available on earthdatascience.org, where you can work through it at your own pace. For more information please visit our website, read more about the program, or email earth.lab@colorado.edu.
