June 22-25, 2020

Registration for the 4th annual DroneCamp short course on drone mapping is now open! This collaborative four-day training program covers everything you need to know to use drones for mapping and data collection. No experience is necessary.

Due to the COVID19 pandemic, DroneCamp 2020 will be held online. Instructors from the University of California and California State University systems will teach a range of workshops designed for both beginning and intermediate users.

  • Safety and Regulations: Overview of safety and regulations; How to be a good visual observer¹; Operating in controlled airspace¹; Night flying¹
  • Hardware: Selecting sensors & platforms for your objective & budget; Field planning and preparation
  • Data Collection: Mission planning best practices and tools; High precision mapping¹
  • Data Analysis: Data processing overview; Processing drone data with Pix4D², Agisoft Metashape¹², ArcGIS Pro¹², and Open Drone Map¹; Analyzing drone outputs in ArcGIS Pro² and QGIS¹²; Advanced vegetation analytics¹²; Data analysis in the intertidal zone¹

Registration is now open. The registration fee covers all four days of content. Students and employees of academic institutions are eligible for a reduced rate. Scholarships are available for UCANR employees.
