Open Rocky Mtn Region Board Position Filled

Kyoko Oyama has been appointed as a Regional Director to serve on the GIS in the Rockies Planning Committee.  Kyoko is an ASPRS member and a GIS Tech with the City of Centennial, Colorado. According to our Region bylaws, and since our elections are past, a person can be appointed to an open ASPRS-RMR Board position by the Executive Committee (President, Treasurer, National Director), with the approval of the Board.  Kyoko’s bio sketch and contact information are below.  Welcome, Kyoko!!

Kyoko Oyama-Chenhalls is an experienced Geographic Information Systems Technician with a background in government administration. She holds a certificate in Geographic Information Systems from Pikes Peak Community College.  She has taken additional training courses from Esri, GeoSpatial Training Resources, and is currently enrolled in a Massive Open Online Course (MOOC) through Pace University. Kyoko has been a GIS Technician with the City of Centennial for almost 4 years. Originally, she was brought on under the Innovation Department to help implement Centennial’s first tracking system to account for the City’s conduit, fiber optic network, and streetlight network assets. Since then, she has provided support for such projects as the City’s Trails and Recreation Plan, their Comprehensive Plan, and the Central Arapahoe Road Corridor Study.

Kyoko is very active in the GIS community, serving on the Board of the Rocky Mountain Urban & Regional Information Systems Association (RM-URISA), volunteering for the GIS in the Rockies Conference, and this was her second year volunteering at the International LiDAR Mapping Forum. She looks forward to serving on the GIS in the Rockies Conference Planning Committee as a representative of the ASPRS Rocky Mountain Region.
