Conference Information

The Wyoming Geographic Information Science Center (WyGISC) at the University of Wyoming will host a two-day symposium to address topics associated with acquiring and deploying unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs, i.e. drones), associated software and equipment, and technology and policy developments.  Experts from government, academia and industry will discuss UAV geospatial data collection capabilities and various UAV technology developments. The symposium will also discuss opportunities and challenges of UAVs and the policies being developed to properly regulate UAV systems.

Specific topics will include: Sensor options (panchromatic to multi-spectral), vehicle options (rotary powered, fixed wing), and pertinent legal and policy constraints (FAA regulations, privacy, use on public lands). Program format will include policy overviews, scientific talks, panel discussions and vendor demonstrations.

Geospatial professionals, engineers, natural resource managers, city and county planners, emergency and first responders, scientists, students, faculty and anyone interested in learning more about the opportunities and constraints concerning the use of UAVs and the systems which support them.
