Minimum Requirements:
The applicant must have familiarity with test concepts in general and the ability to develop perceptive test approaches. We are actively seeking a part-time Geographic Information Systems Technician for our Broomfield, Colorado office. This position will provide technical support in GIS technologies to staff and clients. The ideal candidate will have a background in GIS, geography, or cultural resources management. This position will report to the GIS Coordinator and is a temporary hourly position. Pay rate is based on individual qualifications and experience.

Job Duties and Responsibilities:
· Perform GIS support for cultural resource projects;
· Design and maintain a variety of spatial data layers and associated
attributes;
· Manipulate, analyze and interpret data from many sources and in many
formats;
· Digitize map features and scan hardcopy maps and drawings;
· Work closely with project managers and field crew when assembling all
necessary data layers for archaeological report maps;
· Create report quality map products using ArcGIS templates and styles;
· Contribute to expanding SWCA’s professional reputation in natural and
cultural resource consulting and research;
· Work closely with SWCA’s other managers and directors in both natural and
cultural resources throughout the company to promote SWCA’s business interests in adherence to its mission, vision, and values.

Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree or higher in geography, cartography, archaeology, or related field. A qualified candidate may also be currently pursuing a Bachelor's degree in one of the above listed programs. Two (2) or more years of hands-on GIS experience with ESRI’s ArcGIS 8.x or 9.x. Experience creating archaeological excavation maps within ArcGIS or other mapping program highly desired. Working knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel.
Proven organizational and problem solving skills as well as attention to detail required. Must be able to formulate and clearly communicate ideas to others and communicate effectively with staff and clients through personal contact, emails and written letters/memos.
