The Administration and Decision Support Division of the Department of
Environmental Health is seeking an Associate IT Developer (GIS). This
position supports/develops a wide variety of environmental and public
health oriented program areas and initiatives and serves as the Associate
GIS Developer for the Departments GIS/MIS Program.
This role requires a unique blend of skills in the areas of: Application
and Project Support, GIS Application Development and Project Management,
GIS Program Implementation and Evaluation, and GIS Program Planning and
Management. It is critical that the successful candidate be willing and
able to contribute in other areas of main stream software
development and database administration.
The hiring authority is interested in individuals that are particularly
motivated and experienced in the delivery of customer service and user
support. We are looking for a skilled GIS developer with a knack for educating
subject matter experts in the use of GIS technology. Further, there is
an established need to provide varying levels of analytical support for
environmental modeling problems and the preparation of presentation graphics.
We are seeking candidates who have experience integrating various ESRI
GIS products with an assortment of mainstream IT technologies including
ESRIs ArcIMS, MS Access, ArcView 3.x, ArcGIS 8.x 9.1 and
SQL Server. Applicants must be support-oriented and able to work successfully
in team environments. This position has varying levels of program management
and development responsibility; but is predicated on the applicants
ability to successfully support the departments technical needs
and to cultivate GIS practioners. Experience with Earthsofts EQuIS
software product, Hummingbirds CyberDocs and DM5
Electronic Document Management products, Oracle (SDE implementations),
and legacy ArcINFO is a plus.
Specific requirements for this position include:
* a Baccalaureate Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Business
Administration, Mathematics or a related field; and,
