Research Associate II (Data Manager-Natural Resources Data)

Position Description: Experienced, independent and highly motivated candidates are sought to lead natural resource data management systems for the National Park Service. Two positions, one full-time position and one at least half-time position, serve as principal contacts and support for existing data systems in the Biological Resources Management Division
(BRMD) and the Fire Management Program (FMP), respectively. Both positions are assigned to the Natural Resource Program Center of the National Parks Service (NPS) and are employed via Colorado State University, Fort Collins, Colorado.

Minimum Qualifications: B.S. in Computer Information Systems, Spatial Data Management/GIS (preferred) or closely related field. Three years of demonstrated experience with relational databases, database systems, or closely related activities. Experience (or education) with GIS, remote sensing, digital cartography, thematic mapping or closely related activities. Demonstrated ability to work independently.

Salary Range:
$45,000 – $48,000 per year.

Requires 3-5 years of related experience in the design, maintenance, and administration of GIS databases; Proficient in ESRI software. Bachelors degree in Computer Science or a related technical discipline, or the equivalent combination of education, technical training, or work experience.
SKILLS and ABILITIES: Knowledge of the principles, methods, and techniques used in all phases of GIS Geo-spacial database development, coding, and design, data access analysis and design, archive and recovery strategy, load strategy design and implementation, security, and change management. Proficiency in the use of one or more specific technologies may be required, depending on job assignment.
