Travel: This position will work primarily in Helena with limited travel to coordinate with the Bureau's Billings office, support coal mine inspections/surveys, and to attend training.

Duties: The incumbent is responsible for managing the Coal and Uranium Program's spatial database and providing GIS support for the Program. Main duties include GIS analysis and support; database development, management, modification, implementation, operation and maintenance; Quality Assurance and Quality Control (QA/QC); and training. This position is also responsible for collaborating with the standing data committee in order to facilitate database integration. The incumbent will also act as the Program's liaison with IT.

Competencies (Knowledge, Skills, Abilities):
1) Expert knowledge of principles and practices of electronic data and information management systems and procedures, including Quality assurance and Quality Control (QA/QC);
2) Substantial knowledge of GIS, GPS and spatial database management software applications;
3) Strong data entry, organizational, analytical, and problem solving skills;
4) High level of skill in the operation and management of software including relational databases, word processing, and spreadsheets;
5) Knowledge to construct, operate and maintain multiple relational databases for storing, retrieving, and tracking large volumes of geographic data;
6) Knowledge and understanding to interpret and implement data and information requirements contained in complex and ambiguous acts, rules, regulations and agreements and adapt databases or procedures to integrate new requirements into data management structure;

Information About The Job:
The Colorado Geological Survey (CGS) is a state government agency within the Department of Natural Resources whose mission is to help reduce the impact of geologic hazards on the citizens of Colorado, to promote responsible economic development of mineral and energy resources, provide geologic insight into water resources, provide avalanche safety training and forecasting, and to provide geologic advice and information to a variety of constituencies. By providing sound information and new knowledge, the Colorado Geological Survey contributes to economic growth and improvement in the quality of life for Colorado's citizens.

DUTIES:
This position evaluates geological suitability reports and assesses on-site geological conditions and hazards for local-government agencies and school boards as part of agency's statutory reviews of proposed subdivisions, school sites, and special-review projects, under the supervision of a higher-level researcher/scientist. It serves as liaison to local planning and building officials, consultants, and developers, to facilitate proper land use planning and geological hazard mitigation. The position collects, compiles, and analyzes geological and geotechnical data and writes portions of engineering geology reports in support of agency's cash- or tax-funded projects, such as highway-alignment feasibility studies, GIS mapping studies, or regional geological-hazard research studies, under the supervision of a higher-level researcher/scientist.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Bachelor's degree in geology, engineering geology or geological engineering. Applicants must submit copies of transcripts with their application.

HIGHLY DESIRABLE:
Graduate-level coursework in engineering geology, geotechnical engineering, geographic information systems (GIS), or environmental science and engineering is highly desirable. Knowledge of, and experience in, surveying techniques is desirable.

Must possess and maintain a valid State of Colorado Driver's License.
Travel and fieldwork are required.

- Working hand in hand with our sales team in pre-sales situations, building customer relationships and confidence
- Driving customer evaluations – including modeling and benchmarking of new processor architectures
- Resolving customer technical questions and issues (working hand in hand with our development team)
- Building the software (or, in some cases, both hardware and software) to use as examples and demonstrations that can be used by customers as part of their learning process.

The ideal candidate will have experience in the majority of the following technical areas:
- SoC Design – especially processor architecture – including an appreciation for the various tradeoffs that drive performance, power and cost.
- Assembly language programming
- C programming – especially including an appreciation for the highly optimized code (fast, small image size) demanded by embedded applications.
- RTL design and synthesis – driven from Verilog or VHDL
- ESL design methods (e.g. SystemC, modeling, behavioral synthesis)
- DSP algorithms for embedded applications (e.g. wireless, video, audio)

To be successful in this position, you must have:
- Excellent customer-presence. The ability to build relationships easily and quickly.
- Strong and broad technical credibility (in the above areas)
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including a leaning toward teaching. That is, the ability to teach and mentor customers to become more self-sufficient over time.
- A passion for advancing the state of the art in SoC design.

Proven ability to communicate technical concepts to a non-technical audience. Natural sales aptitude. Extensive experience is using Microsoft, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Access.
