The Long-Term Ecological Research site at the JER has one of the longest continuous periods of records in arid regions, extending back to 1912 while the site also has a rich remote sensing data base including aerial photography (which starts in 1936). In addition to numerous satellite data sets from various sensors, high resolution digital photography from Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs) has recently been obtained. The position requires a Bachelor's or Master of Science Degree in fields such as remote sensing, GIS, geography, natural resources, environmental sciences, and engineering. Responsibilities of the position include cataloging, archiving, and processing satellite imagery and aerial photography, orthorectifying and mosaicking aerial photography and hyperspatial UAV imagery, analyzing and integrating remotely sensed, GIS, and GPS data, and assisting researchers with image processing tasks. Two to three years of experience in remote sensing/GIS data processing is required particularly with software such as Erdas Imagine, Leica Photogrammetric Suite, ESRI suite, ENVI, eCognition, Feature Analyst, etc. Experience with digital photogrammetry and programming experience in the remote sensing/GIS environment are preferred.

You must have solid design and coding skills, and be well versed in creating high-end scalable, performant and extensible systems. The Boulder team is new to Microsoft. The Virtual Earth 3D imaging group is creating the 3D visuals for Virtual Earth 3D. The photogrammetry Microsoft is looking for a program manager for tools used to create the 2D and 3D content for VE. This PM will be responsible for the entire live cycle of one or more of these tools. This requires leading an international group of researchers, developers and testers in ways that continuously improve the creativity and efficiency of the team.
