The City of Cortez, Colorado, has a position open for a full-time GIS Coordinator.

Responsibilities of the position include: managing the City's Geographic Information Systems; working with AutoCAD to draft and design City projects; inspecting project construction; managing databases using MS Access and other computer programs; assisting with all Public Works functions.

Qualifications for the position include: ability to use ESRI's ArcGIS and ArcInfo programs, and AutoCAD; experience with Visual Basic and Python is a plus; ability to use GPS hardware/software; ability to communicate clearly both orally and in writing; must have a valid Colorado driver's license, and be a high school graduate or equivalent.

The U. S. Geological Survey is seeking individuals who are familiar with computer programming and software development on Windows and UNIX platforms. We are interested in employees for full time summer work and part-time work during the semester (15 – 30 hours per week).

Qualified applicants should have:
Familiarity with C++ development using Visual Studio .NET or GCC.
Have taken at least one course in data structures.

Computer Scientist Trainees will be supporting various geographic and cartographic research projects.
Two projects with immediate need are:
- User-Centered Design for Web Services
Objective: Design of a human intuitive interface for one (or more) viewers for The National Map access viewers (or portal) to all USGS data
Approach: Design Web interface and services. Develop a viewer for The National Map based on the results of a user survey and the design.
- Further enhancement to the Interface between the Agricultural Non-Point Source (AGNPS) Pollution Model and the ERDAS Imagine Geographic Information System (GIS)

-- Background: The U.S. Department of Agriculture developed the AGNPS pollution model. This model has been used extensively by scientists conducting hydrologic or water quality analyses using computer modeling in an attempt to further understand the complex problem of managing non-point sources of pollution in a watershed hydrology domain. The USGS has developed a unique Windows-based program, the AGNPS Data Generator (ADGen) to simplify the task of preparing and creating the input for AGNPS through an interface with ERDAS Imagine.

The LiDAR Manager brings a strong technical background to support and provide leadership to the LiDAR /Geodetic Engineering business. Requirements:
Bachelor’s Degree in Geography, Survey/Geomatic Engineering, or a related field; a minimum of six years experience in Geomatics including LiDAR, GIS, Survey and GPS technology. Must have the ability to manage a group of technical non-exempt and exempt employees, maintaining a high degree of motivation and focus within the department. Must be detail oriented with the ability to multi-task and maintain organization in a changing environment. Excellent interpersonal, oral and written communication leadership and motivational skills with a strong commitment to quality required.

TEKsystems has a 12 month + contract position open in Wyoming. This person will travel quite a bit for Census work. We need a Technical GIS Analyst who has worked with a variety of systems. Experience in a Political environment is preferred.

We are looking for a Geographic Information System (GIS) analyst to manage the State of Wyoming’s implementation of the U.S. Census Bureau’s 2010 decennial census geographic programs and subsequent legislative redistricting plan.

This person should be primarily technical, as well as analytical. You will support the Legislature’s redistricting process, following the 2010 census. The individual would be responsible for preparatory GIS-related work pertaining to redistricting, to be done in cooperation with the U.S. Census Bureau and local and state governmental officials in Wyoming. Individual will report to the OCIO, working closely with the Economic Analysis Division and the Legislative Service Office and local county offices as well as State officials.

Duties include GIS database administration and maintenance, research and analysis, map creation, coordinating with local government officials and the U.S. Census Bureau, and consultation with legislators and legislative staff members responsible for the redistricting process.

The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor's Degree in geography, political science, community planning, or a related field and two years of relevant experience, or a Master's degree in geography, political science, community planning, or a related field.

We are looking for an individual that demonstrates:
· Expertise in a variety of GIS applications and systems.
· Ability to take vague requirements and produce results using GIS tools.
· Leadership and solid ability to communicate in developing the Wyoming Legislature’s technical response to redistricting with a variety of stakeholders.
· The ability to work independently and with a multi-disciplinary team.
· The ability to organize and manage his/her own workload and to determine preferred approaches to projects and problem solving.
· Excellent interpersonal skills. Must be able to collaborate with a variety of public officials and legislative staff members.

· Experience/familiarity with geographic concepts and census data.

Travel to and from Wyoming counties is expected. Engagement may be greater than one year depending on funding.

Commerce City is seeking a GIS Technician or Specialist who is proficient in creating, editing, and maintaining geospatial databases and related tabular data. The incumbent will provide data analysis, modeling, programming, and technical support for City customers and will produce accurate, customized, visually attractive maps and reports.

Qualifications for GIS Technician include an Associates degree in Cartography, Geography, Computer Science, Planning, Engineering or related field emphasizing Geographic Information Systems plus at least two years experience with ESRI ArcGIS software (ArcInfo, ArcEdit, ArcMap, ArcSDE) in a Windows environment. Experience with ArcGIS 9x, ArcSDE/ArcServer, ArcView 3x is required. Working knowledge of CAD, GPS, COGO, and municipal data is strongly preferred.

Qualifications for GIS Specialist include all of the above plus a Bachelors degree and at least three years experience. At least one year of experience in GIS programming is strongly preferred. An equivalent combination of education, training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities may be considered. Incumbents must be able to work successfully in a team environment and posses a valid driver’s license.
