The National Drought Mitigation Center (NDMC) with the School of Natural Resources at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln invites applications for a Geospatial Analyst position.

The Geospatial Analyst shall assist a multi-disciplinary research team in the development of new drought monitoring tools and decision support systems. The individual will work with climate and remote sensing experts to research and develop remote sensing-based techniques for drought assessment and investigate new statistical and geospatial modeling techniques for drought monitoring. The individual will also assist in the development of web-based tools and applications to disseminate geospatial information to the public and the maintenance of a historical climate, remote sensing, and other geospatial information databases.

Bachelor's degree (plus six months of relevant experience) in geography, climatology, meteorology, computer science, statistics, natural resources, remote sensing, GIS, environmental science, or a related field is required. Master's degree in one of the above fields is preferred. Relevant coursework can substitute for experience. Knowledge of statistics, environmental modeling, and/or computer programming essential. Excellent computer and organizational skills, oral/written communication skills, and demonstrated ability to work independently and as part of a team necessary. -- Background: The U.S. Department of Agriculture developed the AGNPS pollution model. This model has been used extensively by scientists conducting hydrologic or water quality analyses using computer modeling in an attempt to further understand the complex problem of managing non-point sources of pollution in a watershed hydrology domain. The USGS has developed a unique Windows-based program, the AGNPS Data Generator (ADGen) to simplify the task of preparing and creating the input for AGNPS through an interface with ERDAS Imagine.

Position Summary & Major Responsibilities: This position is responsible for desktop applications support, especially for Lotus Notes and Microsoft Office. Installation, configuration, and troubleshooting tasks will be included, along with basic hardware and peripheral support. Network support will be a requirement, with the goal of learning and providing backup to the Sr. Systems Engineer (primary source of network support.)

Duties & Responsibilities:

* Perform system upgrades, evaluate and install patches and resolve software related issues.
* Server and desktop hardware setup and configuration including RAID.
* Provide support for laptop computers and peripherals.
* Network systems support, including network/desktop security and VPN’s. Will include support for remote offices and traveling users as well.
* Track computer inventory.
* Complete tasks assigned by the Sr. Systems Engineer on a timely basis with minimal supervision.

Education & Experience Preferred:

* Bachelor of Science degree in computer science, management information systems, or engineering (or related field with computer emphasis). Relevant job experience will also be considered in lieu of a degree.
* 4 years experience in networking systems, including switches, hubs, routers, firewalls, WLAN’s.
* At least 2 years experience installing server and desktop operating systems and software.
* Microsoft Active Directory & IIS knowledge required.
* Citrix Server configuration and support preferred.
* Multiple UNIX platforms experience a plus.
* Solid communication skills.

TEKsystems has a 12 month + contract position open in Wyoming. This person will travel quite a bit for Census work. We need a Technical GIS Analyst who has worked with a variety of systems. Experience in a Political environment is preferred.

We are looking for a Geographic Information System (GIS) analyst to manage the State of Wyoming’s implementation of the U.S. Census Bureau’s 2010 decennial census geographic programs and subsequent legislative redistricting plan.

This person should be primarily technical, as well as analytical. You will support the Legislature’s redistricting process, following the 2010 census. The individual would be responsible for preparatory GIS-related work pertaining to redistricting, to be done in cooperation with the U.S. Census Bureau and local and state governmental officials in Wyoming. Individual will report to the OCIO, working closely with the Economic Analysis Division and the Legislative Service Office and local county offices as well as State officials.

Duties include GIS database administration and maintenance, research and analysis, map creation, coordinating with local government officials and the U.S. Census Bureau, and consultation with legislators and legislative staff members responsible for the redistricting process.

The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor's Degree in geography, political science, community planning, or a related field and two years of relevant experience, or a Master's degree in geography, political science, community planning, or a related field.

We are looking for an individual that demonstrates:
· Expertise in a variety of GIS applications and systems.
· Ability to take vague requirements and produce results using GIS tools.
· Leadership and solid ability to communicate in developing the Wyoming Legislature’s technical response to redistricting with a variety of stakeholders.
· The ability to work independently and with a multi-disciplinary team.
· The ability to organize and manage his/her own workload and to determine preferred approaches to projects and problem solving.
· Excellent interpersonal skills. Must be able to collaborate with a variety of public officials and legislative staff members.
· Excellent oral and written communication skills.
· Experience/familiarity with geographic concepts and census data.

Travel to and from Wyoming counties is expected. Engagement may be greater than one year depending on funding.
