A PhD in geomatics or telecommunications engineering is highly desirable.

Demonstrated expertise in Global Navigation Satellite Systems (GNSS) is required. Research expertise in one or more of the following areas is desirable: CDMA signal processing and enhancements, GNSS software receiver design and implementation, satellite and ground-based augmentation systems including, tight and ultra-tight GNSS-INS integration, indoor use of GNSS, and advanced estimation and optimization methods as applied to positioning and navigation. The position is expected to interface with all related disciplines of geomatics engineering and will conduct both teaching and research in satellite-based navigation and related areas. The applicant is expected to develop a strong research program and should be capable of attracting external funding for these research activities and graduate student support. The selected candidate must also have the capability and the flexibility to teach at all levels of the Geomatics engineering program and will be required to register as a Professional Engineer in the Province of Alberta within 2 years of initial appointment.

The Department of Geomatics Engineering is actively involved in all aspects of geomatics engineering and comprises 21 faculty members, some 90 graduate students and 50 students in each year of the undergraduate program. Program Manager - Digital Photogrammetry Workflow
The Virtual Earth 3D imaging group is creating the 3D visuals for Virtual Earth 3D. The photogrammetry Microsoft is looking for a program manager for tools used to create the 2D and 3D content for VE. This PM will be responsible for the entire live cycle of one or more of these tools. This requires leading an international group of researchers, developers and testers in ways that continuously improve the creativity and efficiency of the team. Coordination and communication with other product groups inside and outside the Virtual Earth business unit is also required. Specific tasks include includes product specifications, resource planning, budgeting, scheduling, and project management. Some travel is to be expected.

The successful candidate has a graduate degree, preferable a PhD in a field closely related to the subject like, computer vision, photogrammetry, or computer science combined with 10+ years of relevant industry experience. Expected are in-depth knowledge of digital image processing, digital photogrammetry, 2D and 3D geometry, multiple view geometry and a proven track record in managing software development. Experience with true ortho imagery, close range photogrammetry and oblique aerial imagery are especially relevant for this position.

Software Development Engineer
Are you interesting in doing image processing, using photogrammetry and new research techniques to help build high-quality models of the world? In the Virtual Earth team you can do exactly that – we are currently working on creating detailed street-level photo-textures for the building models in Virtual Earth (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Virtual_Earth) and are building more realistic and detailed 3D building models based on this imagery. The larger team is also responsible for aerial mapping, automating building creation from aerial imagery and managing the global DEM. Our site owns the algorithms and data used to build the 3D Virtual Earth models.

We are located in the Boulder, CO office which has about 120 people right under the flatirons of the Rocky Mountains. We are only a mile from the University of Colorado (http://www.colorado.edu/) and their home page will give you an idea of the phenomenal environment around the office. We are working with data collected by Facet Technology (http://www.facet-tech.com/transportation/transportation.htm) and are driving the technical specifications for their collection systems. We are looking for self-driven developers or research developers who are interested in exploring new spaces, but still want to be able to provide results that the world can see on a semi-yearly basis. We are looking for solid design and programming skills in C/C++ or C#. An MA/MS or PhD in CS or math with a focus on machine vision, image processing or photogrammetry is desired. Relevant work or project experience in this space is ideal, but a history of solid results in other work areas would be considered as well.

Software Development Engineer - Database
We are located in the Boulder, CO office which has about 120 people right under the flatirons of the Rocky Mountains. Virtual Earth is an industry pioneer in bringing a variety of map imagery to the end consumer, and we’ve one upped the competition in 3D space. The VirtualEarth 3Di team, located in beautiful Boulder, CO, is a recent acquisition and brings with it a vast array of imaging and graphics technologies. The 3Di team will play a key part in the next several Virtual Earth releases by building software that will produce all of the imagery and 3D data consumed by the VirtualEarth products - on both the 2D web site and the upcoming 3D products. We are looking for a developer to help build the imagery processing infrastructure - from inception to production. You must have solid design and coding skills, and desire to build high-end scalable, performant and extensible systems. We are building a very large repository of raw aerial and satellite imaging and processing control system that will be used to build the Virtual Earth online Database, think in petabytes? You must possess a passion for producing well-engineered, well-factored, easily-maintained code. Strong SQL Development back ground is required.
Candidates should have 4-6 years experience in software development. Proficiency in T-SQL and C# or C++ is required. Experience with ASP.NET, web services, and XML technologies are ideal. A BA/BS or MS degree in Computer Science, related discipline, or equivalent 2-4 years of commercial development required.

Software Development Engineer - In Test
The Microsoft Virtual Earth application has become exceedingly popular for exploring massive 2D and 3D areas around the world. The explosive growth in photorealistic 3D modeling has created a whole new generation of users that continues to grow exponentially. In the past, photogrammetry tended to be a very labor-intensive operation, but as we research and implement new breakthroughs, we are on track to making our imagery pipeline the most scalable and robust imagery production facility in the world. So, if you are interested in pursuing a career that includes the testing of automatic feature extraction, multiview geometry, and dynamic texture mapping to produce lightweight photorealistic 3D models of buildings, come join us.

The VE3Di Test Team is looking for several talented SDETs to take on the challenges of testing our Virtual Earth platform and imagery pipeline as well as contributing new ideas that will improve the way we use maps online today. It's more than just a role as a tester. You will be involved in every phase - from researching new HW, assisting in designing new features, to writing C# automation.

Your role on our test team would, at a minimum, consist of the following:
· Define the correct test automation architecture to use in different test environments.
· Provide valuable input in the design phase as a customer of the imagery framework.
· Diagnose, debug, and troubleshoot issues at the system level and at the coding level.
· Write test automation and toolkits that will be used by several other teams in both Boulder and Redmond.
· Work closely with other testers, test leads, and development leads on fast-track release cycles.
· Help improve the entire team's abilities to help produce high quality imagery to the web.

The best candidate should have a good test methodology background. They should also have plenty of experience in understanding product cycles and testing milestones. Candidates must be self-starters with excellent communication skills who can adapt to new technology quickly, and have the ability to see the big picture as well as understand the fine details of C#. You must be a top performing test engineer who enjoys driving for quality. If you want to own large pieces of the puzzle, are self-directed and results-driven, we'd love to have you on our team. You will drive and own feature testing from spec to release and beyond. Test experience in Image Processing and Photogrammetry is a strong plus.

Qualifications include a minimum of 4 years experience in test development. You must be fluent in VB/VB.NET or C#. BS degree in CS or equivalent experience required.
