Ideal candidate will possess the following attributes associated with natural gas pipelines and route surveys:

7-10 years experience completing all Mapping, Alignment, and miscellaneous GIS drafting functions using 2- and 3-D CAD software; AutoCAD Map required, BlueSky AlignDB a plus
Thorough knowledge and experience with ArcGIS
Working knowledge of pipeline requirements for onshore pipeline routes, including alignment sheets, crossing permit drawings, property plats and survey data is required
Familiarity with applicable codes and standards for onshore pipeline alignment sheets will be an advantage
Ability to complete deliverables for the detailed design phase of a project; ability to work in the field assisting construction personnel with the engineering design work and as-built work
Capacity to gather route and technical data from survey data, topographic maps and aerial photography

FIRE SCIENTIST, SYSTEMS ANALYST / PROGRAMMER

Fire Scientist
Description: S&K Aerospace is seeking a Fire Scientist to assist the Fire Program Analysis project at the Missoula Fire Sciences Laboratory in Missoula, MT. The Fire Program Analysis (FPA) project requires evaluation of the simulation model for the large fire component of the program. The program requires oversight of an expert in fire simulation modeling and data handling. The Fire Scientist will assess current status and accuracy of the large fire simulator in FPA. This will involve calculating average burn probabilities from gridded model outputs, summarizing average burn probabilities by fuel type, and comparing observed historical fire size distributions with modeled results. This will need to be done for all Fire Planning Units (FPUs) in the western U.S. Candidate will also provide input on the results of the accuracy assessment to the Interagency Science Team (IST). The results will be distributed to the science team as requested and briefings or summaries of the conclusions interpreted for the IST.

Qualifications: Minimum of a Masters degree in the physical or natural sciences. Proven ability to interface with client and software team personnel in using and evaluating fire simulation models (e.g. FARSITE, FlamMap, FSPro.) Personal references and documentation indicating past publications on fire modeling and fire assignments using these models for decision support are required. Demonstrated excellence in the subject matter area including wildland firefighting, GIS, Fire Behavior and Growth Models, and spatial data access, manipulation and assessment. Proven abilities in verbal and written communication skills. Ability to define and communicate research and data required to support simulation models. Capability to perform statistical analysis and prepare summaries on research results. Position is contingent on contract award. This announcement remains open until filled. Systems Analyst/Programmer
Description: S&K Aerospace is seeking a Systems Analyst/Programmer to assist the Wildland Fire Decision Support System (WFDSS) at the Missoula Fire Sciences Laboratory in Missoula, MT. The WFDSS is a U.S. Govt. interagency project evolved from the need to streamline and improve these decision-making processes, as well as take advantage of improvements in technology, fire modeling, and geospatial analysis. The Missoula Fire Laboratory provides consultation, algorithm and model development, and prototype interface segments. The Systems Analyst/Programmer will develop algorithms based on spatial and time series statistics of spatial fire weather patterns that can be used to generate artificial gridded weather sequences that preserve the spatial and temporal correlations. Candidate will evaluate practical methods for using the algorithms along with current weather observations to fulfill the intention of eventually generating any number of simulation scenarios at a continental (conterminous United States) scale.

Qualifications: Minimum of a Masters degree in Computer Science or Mathematics with emphasis in Statistical Methods. Minimum 2 years experience in developing and interpreting time series and spatial correlation statistics. Minimum 3 years experience in C++ programming. Minimum 3 years experience in the R or S+ statistical programming languages and Working knowledge of the Python programming language. Demonstrated ability to design, code, test, and deploy interface segments to other systems. Position is contingent on contract award. This announcement remains open until filled.
