The person will be involved in different projects and should thus have versatile skills. Knowledge / Position Requirements
* Senior level skills with COTS industry software (ArcGIS, ERDAS Imagine, ENVI, FLASH, etc.) as they apply to remote sensing data processing and applications
* A minimum of three (3) years of direct remote sensing data processing experience including, but not limited to, geometric, radiometric and atmospheric correction of imagery data, supervised/unsupervised image classification, change detection
* Knowledge of sensors (airborne and satellite) and data collection parameters
* Willingness to travel (up to 10%); domestic and international
* Excellent verbal communication and writing skills
* Must be US citizen and eligible for US security clearance
* Bachelors of Science or Masters of Science in related field preferred
* Fluency in Spanish preferred

Environmental Impact Assessment Consultant / Project Manager - Denver
ERM is seeking a motivated Environmental Impact Assessment Consultant / Project Manager for the Impact Assessment Planning (IAP) practice in Denver, CO. As a core member of IAP teams, you will manage and contribute technically to multi-media permitting and National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) projects primarily in the natural resources and power sectors, working other project managers, subject matter experts, and partners. RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Provide technical assistance on NEPA environmental assessment (EA) and environmental impact statement (EIS) projects and related activities in support of ERM clients’ domestic and international development projects (i.e., oil and gas, mining, power generation, electrical transmission, renewable/alternative energy, and Brownfields projects). Conduct tasks related to environmental impact assessment, land use planning, facility siting and permitting, risk assessment, and water resources management.

Perform project delivery activities such as: report writing, undertaking and organizing data collection and survey field work, data and literature review, and developing recommendations for clients, and conducting field work as needed.
• Perform multi-media permitting and compliance associated with development projects with an emphasis on U.S. Army Corps of Engineers and U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service,.
• Provide support to technical staff for Contaminated Site Management practice on natural resources damages and ecological and human health risk assessment tasks.
• Contribute to proposal development, including development of technical scopes and cost estimates. Maintain client relationships to support repeat business.
• Collaborate with other ERM IAP practitioners to execute impact assessment projects (services within our IAP Practice include environmental impact assessment, land planning, facility siting & permitting, risk assessment and water resources management). Participate on teams comprised of impact assessment professionals from multiple offices around the organization.
• Work within quality/budget/schedule expectations and scope-specific assignments.
• Communicate with subcontractors, regulatory agents, tenants, and clients during field activities.

REQUIREMENTS:
• Bachelors degree in biology, environmental science, engineering, or related discipline; Masters degree and relevant professional registrations a plus.
• 5 to 10 years experience conducting integrated environmental and socioeconomic impact assessments, alternatives analysis and preparing NEPA-type documents in the mining, oil/gas, and/or power sectors.
• Must have experience and strong knowledge of the NEPA process.
• Technical skills in GIS, ecological surveys, wetlands assessments, hydrogeologic assessments, or socio-economic surveys desired.
• Experience in stakeholder engagement and regulatory negotiations.
• Experience with federal sector (BLM, Bureau of Indian Affairs), Tribal and FER a plus.
• Demonstrated leadership ability to manage multi-discipline team and the experience to lead projects.
• Strong analytical and communication skills, and ability to work effectively within multidisciplinary project teams.
• Demonstrated ability to handle a fast-paced consulting environment, as well as multiple project assignments, strict deadlines, and periodic travel needs.

Our National Security Global Business is currently seeking a Part Time Geospatial Information Systems Assistant. This position is located in Colorado Springs, CO. This project's period of performance is 12 months and there is no guarantee of employment once the project is completed.

The selected applicant will be responsible for reviewing GIS and computer-aided design (CAD) drawings, uploading the drawings to a web-based portal and tracking completion status for over 700 individual drawings. The GIS assistant will also create geo-rectified shapefiles utilizing GIS software, integrate CAD and GIS data, and correct minor errors by utilizing CAD software. The GIS assistant will work under the supervision of a GIS specialist and will assist the specialist with a variety of GIS and CAD tasks including developing 3D visualization techniques, documenting lessons-learned, and assisting with developing training.

On Reading and Asking Questions:
I often exchange emails or talk to the younger set on advice for getting a job. I try to focus on having candidates TALK LESS of their own skills, talents, and wonderfulness... and LISTEN MORE to answers to their "intelligent and insightful" questions they ASK potential employers. This enables the job seeker to understand the problem(s) to be solved. The task is to package yourself on-the-fly, to be "part of the solution the employer is seeking". (They already have lots of "wonderful people"... and they still have problems.)
Impressing employers can be more easily done by "quality of questions", rather than by "I am wonderful because ..." statements.
(Trust me on this one!)
And don't forget to read, read, read -- every day.
("Avid reader" always looks good on a resume and the investment of time will be well worth it.)
On Business Cards:
I have used VistaPrint in the past; they are free (except for shipping) and they are good.
I recommend you print your "individual" business card, unaffiliated with any company, and carry them with you.
Whereas handing out a resume can be rude and creates the wrong impression, a simple business cards says "I know the process."
A b-card is NOT a piece of promotional sales literature; it is a convenient means to convey your contact information (KISS).
But, you can use it to expand or narrow the responses you receive.
If your title is really "President," no one will talk to you; make it "Principal" or "Partner" or "Owner;" this opens the door.
If you specialize in one function, state what it is: "Technical Writer or Web Developer," etc.; this qualifies people.
If you are a generalist, provide a definition: "Regional Marketing Manager or Branch Manager;" this means you are approachable.
Avoid "Consultant," as it is often synonymous with "unemployed."
If you want to generate conversation, use "Entrepreneur" or "ROGUE;" it invites the question.
But, if you don't have your response path practiced and polished ... don't do this!
